- 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, 1 stick
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats

Make the crisp topping
- In a medium bowl, cut 8 tablespoons unsalted butter into 8 pieces and place in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20-second bursts until mostly melted, 40 to 50 seconds total. Set aside to cool slightly. Add in the all-purpose flour or gluten-free all-purpose flour blend, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon and salt to the bowl and stir to combine.
- Add in the old-fashioned rolled oats and stir to combine.
- Refrigerate for at least 5 minutes or until ready to use.
